Tour De Farm Tour: Guerrilla Growery
The following guest post was written by one of our own Board members, Mary Ann Rosenthal. Read on for Mary Ann’s bio.
Microgreens – organic and with a small footprint, these lovely greens are grown in the back yard of a house, officially a “nursery” off Sea Park Drive on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine. The yard has a fabulous view of estuary and the inter-coastal, some happy citrus trees and starter flats in a small greenhouse. The beds are filled with sprouting greens and herbs that are sold by the ounce at local farmer’s markets.
Kayla Cox and Chance Ryan specialize in growing the organic sprouts, micro greens, baby greens and herbs, known for their excellent source of protein and vitamins. Microgreens are young seedlings of edible vegetables and herbs harvested at a young age.
Any vegetable can be a microgreen! Come visit them during the November 15th Tour de Farm and find out how simple it is to cultivate these tasty and vitamin packed seedlings. Be sure to follow them on Facebook.
