Casa Maya

Tucked in a house on Hypolita Street in the ancient city of St. Augustine, Casa Maya’s chef /owners Karla and Marco Sr. Barrera have created authentic Mayan cuisine reflecting their Mexican roots on the Yucatan Peninsula. Think fresh, organic, new tastes, seasonal, and really home-made, and you have the essence of what these two talented people provide for breakfast, lunch, and dinners. They search out the best seasonal organic produce and herbs, shopping many times each week to bring fresh ingredients to your table. Karla's made-by-hand marinades and sauces (ranchero, mole, tomatillo, and annato seed) are based on family traditions and recipes which have been passed down through the generations.

Fish comes from local fishmongers. Delicious fresh healthful daily specials are the rule. Unique beverages include sangria which is prepared individually by the glass combining a hibiscus flower infusion topped with melted berries and grandma’s fine Mexican hot chocolate.

Breakfast offerings include fresh fruits, omelets, sweet potato pancakes, and the exceptional Apocalypto sandwich on homemade bread. Select from homemade guacamole, unusual wraps, salads, and soups for lunch at midday. Do not miss out on the soft tacos. All entrees will intrigue anyone interested in authentic Mexican cuisine.
