Taverna is a popular San Marco spot that specializes in seasonal European cuisine of both tapas-like small plates and entrees heavily influenced by the cuisines of Italy and Spain. The menu is seasonal. Wine and locally brewed beers are available from the bar or table side from a wait staff that has proved knowledgeable and very competent. Chef, Sam Efron, and his kitchen staff make everything from scratch. This means the bread, pasta, and even the mozzarella are artisinal and from the Taverna kitchen. The restaurant believes in time honored culinary traditions and craftsmanship, and it is reflected in the menu in everything from multiple charcuterie and cheese selections, the traditional Neapolitan style pizza and paella.

The varied selection of entrees changes with the seasons since Taverna uses ingredients primarily sourced from local, sustainable and humanely raised products. The Chef works closely with the local Twinn Bridges Farm for herbs and a variety of seasonal vegetables whenever available, and uses Meyer’s all natural Angus beef, (no antibiotics, no hormones, certified humane, and all vegetarian diet). The seafood used is sourced from a local fish monger (Fisherman’s Dock) and the menu features locally caught fish according to the season. Whether its through using locally sourced products like Twinn Bridges herbs, or just all natural ingredients like King Arthur flours, Taverna believes in providing its guests with simple, good, hand crafted food.
