Each month, Slow Food First Coast proudly features one farm, one restaurant and one artisan food or drink maker that has received our Snail of Approval award.
When given a choice, we encourage you to support our Snail Approved businesses, and we invite you to check back often to read up on others who are making a difference in our communities.
Know someone who deserves a Snail of Approval award?
OUR NEWEST SNAIL: PRESERVED RESTAURANT
Manifest Distilling is the newest distillery in town, and coincidentally one of our newest Snail of Approvals. Their Gin packs a citrus-y punch, and is a perfectly refreshing addition to your favorite cocktails. As the only full scale functioning distillery in downtown Jacksonville it's a pretty cool spot to visit. Added bonus? Their making spirits with local, organic ingredients, when possible.
SOUTHERN ROOTS FILLING STATION
When it comes to quick, inexpensive meals that are good for you and the planet, Southern Roots Filling Station is the go to spot. Their sandwiches, bowls, baked goods and coffee are all made with sustainability, and taste, in mind. Their bulk section has you covered too, whether you are looking for spices, quality olive oil, granola, tea, Southern Roots has it! Be sure to check out their daily seasonal specials.
BERRY GOOD FARMS
Berry Good Farms is one of those rare places where everything just seems right. Started in 2011, the farm is located on the property of the North Florida School of Special Education and, in addition to growing food, the land is used as a teaching opportunity. Their goal is to provide sustainable food in an ecological manner while giving students hands-on skills they can take into daily life.
